Yearly Diving Helmet Inspections at Heavy Metal Divers

Yearly Diving Helmet Inspections

Annual inspection and servicing that keeps a working helmet in the water.

A commercial diving helmet is life support equipment. It gets inspected and serviced on a schedule, not when something finally fails.

HeavyMetalDivers services the Gladiator, and nobody knows it better, because we build it. An annual inspection opens the helmet up far enough to see what a check on deck cannot: regulator function, exhaust behaviour, sideblock valving, communications, seals, faceplate, lockup, and the condition of the bronze shell itself.

You get the helmet back with a record of what was checked, what was serviced, and what needs attention before the next working dive.

What this covers

  • Poseidon Xstream regulator inspection and servicing
  • Exhaust, sideblock valve, and airtrain checks
  • Comms and commpost inspection
  • Faceplate, neckdam, and cam lockup condition

Process

How an annual inspection works.

01

Incoming assessment

We log the model, serial, and configuration, then assess the shell, faceplate, neckdam, and cam lockup before anything comes apart.

02

Regulator service

The Poseidon Xstream demand regulator is stripped, cleaned, inspected, and rebuilt to specification. Seats, diaphragms, and O-rings are replaced as required.

03

Valving and exhaust

Sideblock valve, airtrain, and exhaust are checked for function and seal. Single and dual-valve dirty-water exhaust set-ups both get the same treatment.

04

Comms check

Commposts, wiring, speakers, and microphone are tested. Two-wire brass post and four-wire waterproof plug set-ups are both supported.

05

Findings and function test

Everything is documented, anything needing attention is quoted before further work, and the reassembled helmet is function-tested.

Common Questions

Yearly Diving Helmet Inspections: questions we get asked.

How often should a commercial diving helmet be inspected?

Most commercial operations work to an annual cycle, and many client and insurance requirements assume one. A helmet working dirty water or heavy bottom time should come in sooner. Tell us the model and how it is being used and we will tell you what schedule makes sense.

Do you service helmets other than the Gladiator?

No. We service the Gladiator only, because it is the helmet we build.
